Paul Auster

Welcome May. My favorite month begins with summer temperatures and I immediately notice how much I missed the warm days and how the spirits return from their hibernation.

Unfortunately, the month also begins with sad news: Paul Auster died of cancer on April 30th at the age of 77. I haven't read many American authors, he is one of them & I have remained loyal to him and have actually read almost everything by him. His last “Baumgartner”, which already contained the idea of the approaching end of his life, is now yet to come. Reading it will be different and special again. A really big one has gone and will be missed.

In January, Siri Hustvedt, his wife and herself a successful and well-read author, posted this picture on her Instagram channel of the birth of her grandson. One person has come, another will go.

RiP, Paul Auster
